If your 2014 Honda Pilot came with the factory tow package, then you can use the Tow Ready Custom Fit Wiring Harness, # 118265. The electric brake circuit will work, but you will also need a brake controller, like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, # 90195, and a custom brake controller wiring adapter, like part # 3070-P. The brake controller is what applies power to the electric trailer brake circuit.

Models that came pre-wired for the tow package will have a factory brake controller plug located under the dash and left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the brake pedal. You will see a 4-pin connector that mates with the connector on the brake controller wiring adapter.

You can determine if your vehicle came pre-wired for the factory tow package by locating the brake controller plug or by calling your local Honda dealer with your VIN.

If your Pilot does not have the tow package wiring, then you will want to install the Tow Ready T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118558, and the Universal 4-Way and 7-Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. You could use the Universal 4-Way and 6-Way Installation Kit, # ETBC6, if you only want a 6-pin trailer connector. A 7-Way trailer connector is more common, so you may want to use # ETBC7 and an adapter if you think you may tow different trailers in the future. Both of these kits come with everything you need to install a 7-way or 6-way trailer connector and a brake controller. The only additional part you will need is the actual brake controller, like part # 90195.

Models without the tow package wiring will not have the brake controller plug under the dash, so a brake controller must be hard wired. I have attached the installation instructions for both of the universal install kits and for the T-One harness for you to check out. I have also attached an installation video for # ETBC7 on a Honda Pilot that will give you an idea on what is involved with the installation.
