How to Install a Transmission Cooler on a 2016 Honda Pilot with the 9 Speed Transmission
Question:
If you have a 16 or 17 Honda Pilot with the 9 speed transmission, this cooler will not work. You would have to cut and bend a short steel line with unique fittings on either side in an attempt to fit the supplied rubber hoses into place. Even if they fit, you would be hose clamping a rubber hose on a smooth steel line. They factory cooler comes with everything you need. 3

I spoke to my contact at Derale and although they have not had a chance to physically test their transmission coolers on the 9 speed transmission in your 2016 Honda Pilot yet, I do believe we have an option for you that will allow you to install the cooler. What you are going to want to do is install the Derale Transmission Line Compression Fitting Kit part # D13031 for 5/16" to 3/8" or part # D13032 for 3/8" to 3/8". The compression fitting side will need to be attached to the smooth steel line and the barbed fitting can then be attached to the rubber transmission line hose. As long as your factory transmission lines are either 5/16" or 3/8" in diameter then these adapters will work well for you.
Another option you have is to flare one end of the steel transmission line and then attach the rubber hose over the flared line. If you are referring to the transmission line leading into the radiator then I would need to see a picture of this in order to recommend the correct fitting.
