Trailer Hitch For 2013 Subaru Impreza Hatchback With Single Exhaust

Question:

Im planning on putting a hitch on my Subaru Impreza Sport 2013 single exhaust hatchback. Only intended use is for bike/cargo racks - not for towing. So Im not planning to do any electrical at this point If it is ever for towing it would be a kayak trailer of some sort. Given my use, what would the differences be between the Curt 11286 and the Draw Tite 24886 ? Thanks

While both are hitches confirmed to fit your 2013 Subaru Impreza Hatchback, the similarities are that they have the same towing capacities and are all Class l hitches with 1-1/4 inch receiver openings.

The Curt Hitch part # C11286, is made in the USA and also has a note that states all non-trailer loads - bike racks, cargo carriers and so forth - should be supported with stabilizing straps like part # 18050. Failure to properly support these loads will void your hitch warranty from Curt.

The Draw-Tite Hitch, part # DT24959 does not include the ball mount, pin and clip. For a ball mount I recommend part # 3593 and for a hitch ball I recommend part # 19258 for a 2-inch ball and part # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch ball.

I have included some links to some installation videos for these trailer hitches you may want to check out. The videos do point out features of the hitches and also give measurements that may be very important to you when selecting items to use with the hitch like bike carriers and cargo carriers.

You will want to check your owners manual or with your dealership to make sure you do not exceed the towing and tongue weight capacity of your vehicle. Keep in mind that when a Class l hitch is installed, 2 bikes is the maximum number of bikes that can be carried.

I have also attached a link to the bike carriers we offer that are designed to fit Class l hitches. If you plan on carrying bikes that have alternative frames like kids bikes or women's bikes I recommend using an adapter bar like part # 64005. This attaches between the seat post and the handlebar stem which allows the bike to be carried evenly in the carrier while providing more ground clearance.
