Can I Use a Sidewinder with a Fifth Wheel Slider Hitch and What Model Do I Need

Question:

I tow a 2008 Jazz 3300 trailer with 07 Dodge 4x4, QC shortbed. I currently use a Husky 16,000# manual slider hitch. typical trailer weight is 12,000lbs, pin weight 1900lbs. will the sidewinder or airborn sidewinder work and wich model #? If using sidewinder should I replace the slider 5th wheel with a non slider version?

You would not have to replace the slider with fixed legs. Just make sure you keep the slider locked in the tow position, all the way forward to the cab. The extra length of the Sidewinder will take care of maneuvering clearance.

Sidewinders are produced for a vast majority of the pin boxes used on trailers. In order to find out which Sidewinder or 5th Airborne Sidewinder will work for you, you will have to find out what model pin box was used on your trailer. Typically there is a sticker or badge on the pin box with the make and model. Sometimes it is stamped into the steel, then painted over, so make sure you have some light.

Once you have determined the pin box model, you can use our chart to find which model Sidewinder or 5th Airborne Sidewinder you need. I have included a link to this page below. Click on the right model and it will take you to the product page. For example the # RP34FR will fit a 1621 bolt pattern, which is one of the most common bolt patterns.
