Trailer Hitch and Wiring Harness Options for a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with OEM Trailer Plug
Question:
I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I am looking at the Draw-Tite #75699 and the bracket 18144. What wiring harness do I need to plug into the existing plug under the bumper? I need a basic 4 plug at the end that connects to the trailer. Thanks,

The Draw-Tite Class III Trailer Hitch, # 75699, will fit your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Tow Ready Mounting Bracket, # 18144, will work with this hitch as well.
At this time, there are no vehicle specific trailer wiring harnesses available for the 2014 models because it is a relatively new vehicle, but if your Jeep has an active OEM US style round plug behind the bumper, you may be able to the Hopkins Plug-In Trailer Connector, # 41155. I have attached a photo showing what the connector should look like for this trailer harness to work. To see if it is active, you can use a circuit tester, like part # PTW2993, to probe the pins as someone activates each of the taillight functions. If the connector is not active, you will have to take the Jeep to a dealer to have the computer re-flashed.
If you want the ability to tow a trailer with a 7-way connector as well, then you may be interested in the Tow Ready Multi-Tow 7-Way and 4-Way Connector, # 74682. This harness comes with a 4-way connector and a 7-way connector and eliminates the need of an adapter if you were to tow different trailers.
