Options for Hauling a Kayak and Bike With a 2012 Fiat 500C Convertible
Question:
I have a Fiat 500c convertible. I own a kayak and a bike and want to be able to carry both on my car. Is there a roof rack that I can use to carry both even when I have the top off? Or, do you recommend me use a hitch to tow both with a trailer carrier? Your expertise is much appreciated. . Thank you.

I may have a solution for carrying a kayak and a bike with your 2012 Fiat 500c convertible. It is not recommended that anything be carried on the roof of a convertible. The use of a light weight trailer like the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer, # Y08106, to carry a kayak and a bike might be an option for you. I recommend checking your owner's manual to determine if your Fiat 500c convertible is approved for towing.
If your Fiat convertible does not have a hitch installed, the Curt Class I Hitch, # C11363, is a great option and fits all models except the Abarth. The correct ball mount for that hitch, with pin and clip included, is the # 3593, with the 2 inch hitch ball, # 19258.
For the Abarth model, Curt offers the # C11347. The correct ball mount for that hitch is the # C45521, Pin and Clip, # F-4, with the 2 inch hitch ball, # A-82.
Curt does require the use of Stabilizing Straps, # 18050, for all non-trailer loads like bike racks and cargo carriers.
A working 4-way is needed at the back of the vehicle to be able to operate the lights on a trailer. If your vehicle did not come equipped with a 4-way, the installation of the Tow Ready Wiring Harness, # 118546, is needed.
The Yakima JayLow, # Y04073, are J-shaped cradles that attach directly to the round bars on the Rack and Roll Trailer, # Y08106. Heavy duty straps with padded cam buckles are included to secure the kayak to the HullRaiser.
We offer numerous bike racks that are compatible with the Rack and Roll Trailer. One of the more economical options is the Yakima Boa Bike Carrier, # Y02065. I am also including a link to the other options that are available.
