Troubleshooting 7-Way Trailer Connector on 2014 Ford F150
Question:
The factory 7 way plug does not work. Do I have to hook some wires up from factory? Or add a fuse?
asked by: Brian O
Expert Reply:
The 7-way should be operational. Try using a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 as each lighting function is activated. If the 7-way is not functioning, check the fuse box under the hood and make sure the relays that activate the tow package and the fuses that protect the towing circuits are in place. Your owner's manual should show the fuse locations. Check the rear of the trailer connector, and make sure the factory pigtail is firmly plugged into the rear of the trailer connector. You should hear a 'click' when the pigtail is fully seated in the connector.
