Availability of Shorter Spring Bars For Pro Series # PS49903 Weight Distribution System
Question:
Purchased a ps49903 The spring/tension bars are to long for the trailer tongue. Are there shorter spring bars that fit the same hitch?
asked by: Darren L
Expert Reply:
Bars that were shorter wouldn't provide the necessary lift, and they aren't available. If there are obstructions on your trailer tongue that would prevent the snap-up brackets from installing over the trailer frame members, a bolt-on hanger like part # RP58305 would be solution. Once the bracket is installed, you won't have the option of taking the tension up in the chains by using the snap up brackets, but you can reduce the tension on the bars to the chains by using the jack to raise the trailer tongue while the trailer is still hitched. This will raise the back of the vehicle as well, taking the tension off the spring bars which will allow you to easily remove or install the chains when needed.
