Recommendations for Hitch Receiver, Lock, and Bike Rack to Carry Cannondale Bikes With 2005 Mazda 3
Question:
Hi there, Im interested in getting a bike rack fitted to a hitch. Ive never done this before, so Id like to review my choices with you and ensure I havent missed anything. My car is a 2005 Mazda 3. I own a Cannondale Rush 3 Lefty Fork and a Cannondale CAAD 10. Im looking at buying a Kuat rack and I understand that I may need a special piece to attach the bike rack to the car: And I may also need a lock to prevent both pieces from being stolen: KUATLOCK I dont have the tools to install the trailer hitch, 24816, so Ill go to an auto shop to have it installed. Does this about cover it? Is there anything else I need, and do the pieces Ive selected work together?

It looks like you pretty much have it covered.
When carrying a high end bike like a Cannondale, I personally recommend a platform style rack like the Kuat Transfer, # KU74FR. It comes with a bike lock built in. For the hitch, you can add the # HL1 or # HL2.
The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 24816, is a custom-fit trailer hitch for your Mazda 3 offers easy bolt on installation and requires no welding.
