Selecting The Correct Cushioned Equalizer and Wet Bolt Kit For a Grand Design 2800BH

Question:

I have a Grand Design 2800BH and I want to upgrade my basic equalizer EQ-E1 to the Lippert Equa-Flex. Based on the distance between the 2 bottom holes of 7 3/4, I need to go with LC279688. My concern though is my axles are only rated for 4400lbs each. Im told, and also read on some of the expert comments that LC279688 would be too stiff since its rated for 6K-8K which is a lot more than my axle rating. One expert recommended MORryde MR27ZR but this is also rated up to 8k. Wouldnt that be stiff as well? Please advise on what to use. Im staying away from the Dexter E-Z Flex since I had this before on my old trailer and noticed that the rubber core is too firm. Thank you.

The Lippert Equa-Flex # LC145546 is the closest cushioned equalizer from Lippert to fitting your Grand Design 2800BH. This particular kit is rated for 5K-8K axles. The MORryde CRE3000 # MR27ZR is going to be the best option for your camper. While this is rated for axles up to 8K all of the CRE3000 equalizers carry this same weight capacity. Do understand the different constructions for these equalizers mean while they may look similar they actually operate differently and since the Lippert is only rated for the 5K-8K axles this means Lippert would not warranty them if they were damaged or caused damage to another component on your camper.

You will want to select the correct wet bolt shackle kit from the list below depending on the length of your current shackles and if you have the correct track suspension.

MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers - 2-1/4" # MR46ZR
MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers - 3-1/8" # MR76ZR
MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers w Correct Track - 2-1/4" # MR58ZR
MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers w Correct Track - 3-1/8" # MR98ZR
