Reese Goose Box Gooseneck Adapter that Fits 2024 Jayco Eagle 29DDB

Question:

Hello. I have just purchased a 2024 Jayco Eagle 29DDB with a GVRW of 10,750lbs and pin weight of 1,715lbs. I believe this comes with a Lippert Rhino King Pin Box, but since I am trying to get the parts I need ahead of taking delivery I do not know for sure what king pin it is coming with. I apologize for not having this detail and am hoping you all may already know. I will be towing this with a Ram 2500 short box that came with a goose ball hitch already built in. Because I will be really close on payload weight on my truck I am trying to cut weight where I can and I am wanting to replace the king pin with a Reese Goose Box 16k preferably. Ultimately what are my options for replacing this particular 5th wheel pin box with a compatible gooseball hitch? I am assuming since I would have needed a sliding 5th wheel hitch the gooseball hitch will need to have some sort of offset? Thank you for your time and consideration of my question.

Hey Matt, so the correct Reese Goose Box you'd need for your 2024 Jayco Eagle 29DDB would be the part # RP85FR which fits the Rhino as well as the other standard Lippert pin boxes that your Jayco would have came with although we are pretty sure it is a Rhino.

Since your 2024 Ram 2500 is a short bed I would recommend going with an offset ball to fit the OEM pucks like the Gen-Y part # GY83XR which provides 5 inches of offset.

Thank you Jameson. I had it in my head that I needed the 16k becuase of the weight of the trailer, but I also had found information that indicated it wouldn't replace a Rhino. So, thank you for setting me straight there and pointing out the offset ball. This has made my search much easier and me much more confident that I am purchasing the correct items for trailer and truck.
