Where Does The Trailer Wire Harness Connector Sit After Installation On A 2021 Volvo XC90
Question:
Hi Just purchased this kit and installed it on my 2021 XC90. Im having problems finding how to get the wiring through the trunk to attach the wiring to the hitch. How do I get the wiring down there? Or do I always leave the wires dangling through the trunk? Thanks!

Hi Ryan,
The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56285 is designed to stay in the trunk of your XC90 when not in use. When in use you'll just pull it out and close the rear hatch. There's a gasket that lines the rear hatch that will flex to allow for the wiring to pass through and not get smashed when you close the hatch. If you want to run it down to the hitch instead then you'll likely need to run the connector to a tail light corner and then run it down, but there likely isn't enough length to really accomplish this.
To be honest, the wiring will end up being much safer in the trunk since it won't have all the rain/dirt/debris/etc. corroding the wire and posts on the connector. A lot of people also forget to use the little retention cap to hold the connector to the chain loops on the hitch and they end up dragging to connector on the ground so leaving it in the trunk will avoid this issue.
