Parts Needed To Install a 6-Pin Wiring and Brake Controller on a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Factory 4-Way

Question:

HI - I have a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara 4 door. It is actually the Chief Special Edition. It comes with a 4-way wiring already installed as well as the hitch. I would like to convert the 4-way to a 6-way with a brake controller to pull a trailer which has brakes. Can you provide me with a list of products/options I need to do the conversion please? Thanks

Okay Mike, but I am actually going to give you a couple different options since the 6-way is not very common and we do have the more popular 7-way option which would only require a simple Adapter # 47549.

First if you only want the 6-Pin connector we have the Kit # ETBC6 which will connect to your 4-way and also provides you with the wiring needed to run the required charge line and brake controller.

Otherwise we have the more commonly found 7-Way Kit # ETBC7 which is very similar to the 6-way kit above. It would only require you to use the Adapter # 47549 for your 6-pin trailer but also allow you to connect to the more commonly found 7-way.

With your 2017 Jeep Wrangler I prefer a brake controller like the Redarc # RED44FR since the main unit is hidden behind the dash and it will only require a small dash mounted knob for you to control your trailer brakes. The controller has a proportional mode which is great when towing on roads and a user controlled mode which is superior when off-road or for those who want more control over the trailers brakes.
