Can etrailer Hitch for BMW X3 Handle 4,000 lb Trailer

Hello, We need to install a hitch to a x3 it is going to be towing a trailer with a gross weight of a little under 4,000 pounds will the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver-Custom Fit- Matte Black Finish- Class III- 2inch be enough to support the weight I know it says 5,000 pounds but I just want to be sure. The etrailer Hitch # e46KR won't have any issues with your 4,000 lb trailer. As long as you do not exceed the 5,000 lb rating the hitch can handle it. The only thing you will need to double check is the towing capacity of your vehicle. Without the year and exact model I can't look up what your X3 is capable of. Make sure to consult your owner's manual to find the capacity. You will be limited by whichever capacity is lower.
