The sturdy steel construction is protected with a matte black finish for added durability. This unique powder coating gives etrailer hitches a carbide-like appearance and a rugged look that sets them apart from traditional glossy hitches. In addition to being rust and corrosion resistant, the tough matte coating hides dirt, scuffs, and dings better than a glossy finish.

This fully welded trailer hitch receiver bolts onto your vehicle's frame with no welding required. Matte black, powder coated steel is durable and corrosion resistant and creates a rugged look. This is the third etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver that I have purchased! This is a great product that was extremely easy to order, was delivered within days of when my order was placed and installed with no problems! Install instructions were precise and easy to follow. All hardware was provided. You tube videos helped also. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to install a heavy duty, well engineered trailer hitch. Thanks again etrailer
Good hitch, hauls well, and I can actually use the foot activation of the lift gate BETTER now as I have a specific location I can aim for with my foot.
NOTE: Connecting the safety chains from the trailer will sometimes activate the power lift gate because you're right in that specific spot. Watch your head!
Exhaust hangers were far more of a pain to reconnect than the instructions and videos lead me to believe. Needed some help with those, but everything else was easy to do on my own.
Fits my BMW X3 and works well holding a bike rack. And if you know a mechanic who will work with you, it is pretty easy to mount on the X3.
The hitch was easy to install and have not any problems with the hitch.
Great customer service and fast shipping
Nice hitch, as I recall the installation was a bit difficult but end product is great.
I was kept up to date on the shipping and the products were as described. Moreover, I continue to buy products from etrailer for the competitive prices but the excellent customer service. I love the “how to” videos they offer as well!!
Excellent communication and expert know ledge
Looked very well-made, and the video was totally worth the price of admission.
Shipping was extremely fast. Hitch was perfect
Website was easy to find what I needed. Fast delivery.
Very clear website, speedy shipping and great support!
The hitch came right on time. It is substantial as they say. I had a body shop install it for me as removing the back bumper cover was beyond my pay grade. I like the way it is hidden except for the 2 x2 receiver. some of the hitches from the trailer rental place I see around town are ridiculous they way they hang down.
Had this Curt installed on my 2020 X3 x drive about a year ago by a local body shop. I have used it for my bike rack and also have a carrier tray. Quality of the powder coat is very good, with no signs of rust after a year. The powdercoat seems better than the Draw Tite hitch that I had on my MDX. Overall very satisfied with this purchase.
Purchased this for a 2018 X3 and had it installed by a BMW Certified shop costing $834 for 6 hours of labor.
Unfortunately, now the exhaust does not hang correctly causing the exhaust tips not being centered within the cutouts. The installation shop referred me to an exhaust specialist to solve it which will likely run another $150-$250.
Otherwise the hitch looks as expected.
Hitch is high quality and came with complete installation instructions. I use it for a bike rack and it will also work well for pulling a trailer.
I have a 2022 X3. My mechanic who installed the Curt #13387 Hitch indeed followed the directions and the end result was the left tailpipe hung 1/2" lower than the right one. In hindsight I would have purchased the more expensive Drawtite hitch as it seems to be designed to hang the exhaust from the existing hardware in the car. Otherwise the hitch seems to be OK.
As other said, this is NOT an easy install. I have installed 3 other hitches (two BMW, one Audi) and while it takes time, it is not especially difficult. However, this Curt hitch has some strange design flaws. You have to use an angle grinder or torch to cut off and drill out a welded on bolt, which is really difficult. And it is seemingly needless...the Draw Tite hitch for this car (x3) did not require this. To make matters worse, when you finally get the bolt off and get everything installed, the exhaust system is shifted about an inch to the passenger side, and is very obvious (see previous reviews for a picture). It bugged me so much that I redid the entire thing the next day (another 2 hours) just to modify the rubber-coated steel exhaust hanger bushing...not easy. And then when i reassembled, it is still offset about 1/2" to the right. I really have no idea why Curt would make you relocate the exhaust hanger, and not realize it also causes misalignment. The Draw Tite 76226 does not so go with that product if you are choosing.
nicely made, sturdy design, good welds and finish. Have not installed it yet,
waiting for warmer weather and my experience with items I purchased from you before I don’t expect any problems.
F.Y.I. I fill the cross tube with expandable foam out of a can. Prevents rusting from the inside out, have used this method for years and it works.
You're not going to post this one. Installation was VERY difficult. Instructions were miss leading. Installation required drilling out a welded-in stud in the car's bumper (not mentioned in instructions). Re-hanging the car's muffler on the hitch's stud was a bear of an operation. A small design change would fix both of these problems.
BTW: This is the third Curt hitch I've installed. The others were easy.
There is a lot to do to install this hitch. The one thing that isn't mentioned is that, on the driver's side muffler hanger, you need an acetylene torch to remove the bolt from the bumper frame. It's welded in place, so won't come out with a hammer. Also, it would have been helpful to know that, because of positioning, the bumper frame and hitch need to be mated to the passenger side muffler hanger, and that prior to trying this, the passenger side hanger needs to be removed from the current hanger post.
Luckily, with trial and error, I found these out, it's installed and I don't have to do it again.
It's been a year and the product is holding up well, excellent quality. We had it installed by our mechanics and have a bike rack on it (which stays on all the time). Really happy with it.
