Instructions were very clear in the video tutorial which was extremely helpful. I didn’t have a cone but nor did I want to spend $50-100 on one so I busted out my Dremel with a coarse red grinder on it and it took me less than 5-7 mins to widen the holes in the frame. I used this hitch for my 2021 Crosstrek Sport. I haven’t used it for anything yet but the hitch looks and feels very sturdy, and it fits one of my hitch racks perfectly. I’m very happy and would highly recommend.
Another great product etrailer. This is my third purchase from etrailer, and as always the product shipped quickly and was a direct fit. I order directly through one of the reps, Mike B who is fantastic.
Installation took me 1.5 hours in the driveway on ramps. 2023 Subaru Crosstrek.

10,000 miles later and all is well. Take the extra time to add rust preventative measures to the holes you may need to add to install the hitch hardware.
Perfect for 2022 Subaru Crosstrek! This hitch is a great price and tucks in really nicely under the rear bumper. I did the installation myself without any problems, I backed the rear up onto ramps to give me a little more room and also used a Dremel tool to enlarge one of the frame holes on either side.
So far I've towed my fiberglass camper 400 miles, super happy with this hitch!

Ive towed my fiberglass camper a little under 2,000 miles since my initial review including through some rough roads in the mountains, its just as solid as when I first installed it. Highly recommend!
The hitch itself is excellent quality. Came quick. Box had a couple holes in it but product was undamaged. Very easy to install by myself with the help of my floor jack. For my 21 Crosstrek you do not need to remove the 6 frame plugs just 4 of them. Also I have a Nameless axle back exhaust which it will fit but you either have to buy longer exhaust hangers or cut and shorten the ones you have.

This is a very well made hitch receiver, very solid and looks great on my 2023 Crosstrek! Installation is just as described in video provided. I bought a 1-1/8” step up drill that worked great to enlarge one hole in each side. As mentioned in other reviews this is a 2 person job and you need to have the car up on blocks.
I’m very impressed with the product and service of etrailer. I called them to ask some questions, they answered right away and were able to answer my questions.

Fairly easy to install with another person especially. Lowered my exhaust for more room to work and found that helpful. The instructions could be a bit more detailed, but overall did fine. Happy with the look and seems solid. Only one bolt torqued properly but all in all very secure and tight. Love the low-profile look to it also.
Hitch mounted up perfect. I didn't have to remove the exhaust on the 2022 Crosstrek. I installed it myself, I used a motorcycle jack to hold it up for me while I lined up everything. I took my time and it took me a little over an hour in the driveway. I would recommend!!!
fit and mounting holes lined up perfectly. if the unit were powder coated it would have been 100 out of 100. I give it 95/100. This review was delayed because i had to find a day off to install it. One thought about the unit was that putting some weight reduction holes in the side plates would make the unit easier to lift into place and with no reduction in strength.

Solid product, and it was shipped same day. Installation was easy, the fishing wires were a treat. As noted in earlier reviews, if you are installing by yourself, a pair of jack stands will hold the hitch in place for you to bolt it up.
Installation was easy and following the step by step demo video provided on trailer. I also bought and installed the wiring for trailer lights with ease.
Because of this hitch we successfully pulled a uhaul trailer half way across the US. Definitely recommend.
The product was exactly as described. Installation instructions enclosed in package a bit vague but video on website helped to clear up any ambiguity.
The trailer hitch was quite easy to install. I was able to do it by myself and it really wasn't all that bad. The how-to video was extremely helpful to review before completing but it gave me everything I needed. The only thing that this video didn't review was releasing the exhaust system to provide more flexibility in getting the hitch in place. A little WD-40 and a screw-driver to leverage the rubber off the "hooks" and easy-peasy! This is my second set-up through etrailer and I see no reason to go anywhere else.
Straight forward installation with included fish wire. Highly recommend the video tutorial and having someone help you hold the receiver in place. I used a hand file to enlarge the hole slightly (no drilling necessary). I did not need to remove the exhaust but doing so may have made various aspects of the install easier.
3/5 stars because the receiver was poorly packaged and arrived with damage in the numerous places where it broke through the box. I was able to touch up with paint I had bought for the install but after reading other reviews this seems to be a systemic and easily preventible issue. New products should not be arriving in this condition.
Great hitch, it took some finagling but I was able to install it with the help of another without dropping the exhaust. I definitely recommend this to any Crosstrek owner looking for a hitch.
Installation went well. Some previous year installation reviews mentioned having to undo the muffler bracket but that was NOT the case for my 2024 Subaru Crosstrek. It slid right into place without an issue. I liked the bolt fish wires. I was able to install the hitch receiver by myself using 2 jack stands to prop the receiver as the bolts were tightened. I have a Dremmel tool and using a cut disk, kind of like a grinder, I was able to enlarge the hole to feed the back stops through in a matter of a few minutes. This went a lot faster than it could have using a grinder or file.
Installed on a 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness. Perfect fit. Also installed the wiring harness I purchased from etrailer. I found a factory hole in the spare tire area which I ran the wiring through. Everything looks clean.
This is a 24 Crosstrek Wilderness and the fit is wonderful. It was challenging getting to the driver side bolt hole furthest from the bumper because of the exhaust system. Extensions are your friend.
This is my second etrailer hitch receiver and I love their products: solidly built, helpful installation instructions/videos and great customer service. This particular install was more challenging than my first, but that was due to the vehicle setup and not the hitch assembly. Installed on a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek, currently towing kayaks on a 5x8 utility trailer.
The etrailer hitch fits perfectly on my 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness edition. The matte black finish matches well with the matte black cladding of the Wilderness edition. Very satisfied with the product and the service from Kyle at etrailer.
Excellent fit, finish, and hardware complement the Crosstrek utility. Oversized frame hole enlargement and exposed metal frame rails seemed like potential problems for water and rust. In my experience, I achieved minimal hole enlargement with a cutting blade, spray painted the openings, and applied bead of plumbers putty around the bolts prior to raising the hitch and threading/torquing nuts. The hitch has held up well one year later with no issues.
THe hitch works great on my 2023 Subaru Crosstrek. I haul my bicycle to the bike trail multiple times per week. Never any problems. I highly recommend the hitch.
Just got this hitch yesterday and installed it last night. First of all, can I just say, WOW! I ordered the hitch and it was shipped the next day and at my door within three business days. The installation instructions and video were outstanding. I was able to install it myself (it would have been easier with a second person, but with some creativity I did it alone) and it went on like a snap. Everything fit just right. I can't wait to put my bike rack on it and get out for some rides!
Had it for a year. The installation was pretty straightforward & took my husband a couple of hours. He said there was an extra step where he had to enlarge a factory hole in the undercarriage to make the hitch work, but nothing crazy.
We use this together with a Lolo Rack mountain bike rack, which has been a good combo for us.
This hitch is very solid and arrived quickly and in good condition. It looks good on the Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness. You can see the bar on the hitch because of the increased departure angle on the Wilderness, but it basically covers up the muffler body, which was visible before the install, and I think the car looks better with the black hitch than with the silver muffler showing. It fit well, but I did have to shave down a tab on the muffler hanger because of rattling after the install, but that was quick and easy and took care of the problem without compromising the muffler hanger. This hitch will be used to pull a motorcycle trailer on vacations so I don't have to worry about the weather when driving from the midwest to the mountains to do some riding.
Easy enough to install. Instructions were okay but the video on website was better for a first timer to install this. I did use a 1 1/8 drill bit for the 2 front holes and Rust-Oleum Enamel spray to hopefully stop it from ever rusting on me. Have yet used the hitch but feels good quality and sturdy after I torqued the bolts to 110lbs as instructed.

I haven’t towed anything but I use for a bike hitch rack and have had no issues. Would highly recommend!
