2-Bike Rack For Toyota Prius C That Offers Tool-Free Installation

Question:

Ive used the Swagman platform rack on my Prius C for more than 4 years without incident. My only issue is the time it takes to connect to the hitch with the anti-rattle bolt. At 75 I would prefer something easier to install and remove as I do not like leaving my rack on the car. Can you suggest an easier attachment system or a replacement rack that does not break the bank?

Hey there Gerad, I understand how some of those bike rack's with threaded hitch pins can be a pain to install. I think you'd be happy using the Thule Apex XT Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # TH9024XT. This hitch is extremely easy to install or remove from your hitch without any tools. You simply slide it into the hitch receiver and push in a pin, then use a knob to tighten it by hand (check out the video I attached: at about the 7:10 minute mark you can see the installation process).

Keep in mind, this bike rack is a "hanging" style, whereas your current Swagman rack is a "platform" rack. The bike install or removal process will be slightly different but it will still get the job done and work well on your Prius C. There is not a platform rack with a tool-free install that will work on your hitch, so this is your best option.

Nice, I like the helium too because it’s lightweight

Price being equal, why would one choose the Thule Apex XT over the similar Thule Helium model which is lighter??

@GeradC Normally the Apex is a bit cheaper, but since it appears that the Helium # TH9043PRO is on sale at the moment, I would definitely pick the Helium. With the Helium being lighter as you mentioned, you'll have an easier install.
