Do Jaws of Reese M5 5th Wheel Hitch Open Completely When Ready to Connect to King Pin
Question:
I have new F450 with the Elite series factory from FORD. When I pull the hitch handle to prepare to attach my 5th wheel trailer, the jaw does not open wide enough to allow the kingpin to slide all the way in. The jaw blocks almost half of the opening for the kingpin. Is there an adjustment for this or is this a defect?

That is just how the jaw mechanism looks when it is unlocked and ready to accept a king pin.
If you back your truck into the king pin the jaw will slide the rest of the way open and shut around the king pin. Your setup is totally fine.
