Does Lithium Battery Really Need a Different Charging Setup Than Other Batteries

Question:

Hi. I have a Progressive Dynamics PD4060K on a 2019 rv. It doesnt appear to have the lithium switch and I would like to upgrade my batteries to lithium. So, two questions: 1. Do I really need to have a lithium compatible chargers PCC? I am not concerned with getting the maximum power or life out of the new batteries. I also have a 100w solar panel for connected for battery maintenance while parked for the winter that I can set for lithium. 2. Should I try to replace the whole unit or is there an easier/cheaper modification that would work. I looked at the replacement instructions and there seem to be a lot of wires.... Thanks for any advice.

Lithium batteries have to charge at a much higher voltage than other battery styles so you do need a charger setup that has the lithium profile. Since you have a version of the # PD4060K that doesn't have the lithium option what you'd need the replacement section part # PD4060CSV.
