Can The Sealed, Thin Line Tail Light # STL69RCB be Mounted Horizontally or Vertically
Question:
On these thin rectangular combination LED lamps, is there a required orientation to meet DOT tail-lamp light output angular and intensity requirements? Most of the thin rectangular lamps are shown on the website in a horizontal orientation, one is shown in a vertical orientation. Do they meet the federal motor vehicle safety standards in either orientation? If not, which ones are intended for vertical orientation?

Expert Reply:
The Sealed, Thin Line tail light # STL69RCB does not require a specific orientation. Some lights do and the ones that have this requirement will say either horizontal or vertical in both the part titles and the descriptions. With that said you will still need to mount the light so that it is facing rearward and not up or down at an angle. They are easier to see if mounted horizontally so that is what I recommend.
We also have a nice chrome base for this light, # A69CB.
