Installing A Yakima Skybox Y45AV On A 2023 Dodge Durango

Question:

NX18 YAKIMA SKYBOX, 84 x 36 x 16 1/2. Please provide the distance of the rear crossbar clamping arms to the rear of the actual box. Also the distance of the front crossbar clamping arms to the front of the actual box. I am trying to determine the fit of the box, allowing clearance for the sharkinch fin GPS antennae WHEN THE BOX IS CLAMPED ONTOTHE FACTORY CROSS RAILS. It will extend over top the fin but it may well interfere with gps signal, internet, wifi, etc. The crossbars on my car are factory bars and are FIXED IN PLACE. They span 30 inches. When clamped in place where will the rear of the box extend to. The car is a 2023 Durango. Thanks

The clamps on the Yakima Skybox # Y45AV install into an adjustable channel on the bottom of the box. You will be able to install them 30" apart, but there is not a specific fixed location for the clamps. The best way to determine clearance is to open the rear hatch, and measure from the center of the front crossbar, to the line where the roof and the hatch meet. If you have at least 50" then the box will fit on the roof in the farthest forward position without contacting the rear hatch. You can then measure 34" in front of the front crossbar to get a very good idea of where the front of the box will need to sit. I imagine that on a 2023 Dodge Durango, you will have some space to shift the box towards the rear to free up space for the sensor.

I will say that I have not heard of the ABS plastic boxes interfering with the signal from the roof sensors. I suppose items inside the box could potentially cause interference.
