Will Having Capture Plate of Demco Hijacker Too Tight Create Noise
Question:
I have a demco 18 k slide hitch in a 2018 ford f350 super duty, i recently purchased a new artic fox 29-5t and the demco hitch sounds very loud at low speeds i keep hearing clunks. When i hitch the trailer i tighten the capture plates to the trailer king pin using a impact gun,. I recently read that a 1/8 gap is needed for the hitch to work right,,, so if i over tighten the capture plate will that cause the hitch to be very noisy

Sliding fifth wheel hitches have a lot of moving parts which creates more areas that be noisy due to the movement. I wouldn't say that having the capture plates too tight would create additional noise but it would be worth trying having them at the right tightness to see if that helps.
