Troubleshooting Tips for a 2016 Chevrolet Suburban Not Working With 4-Pin Trailer

Boat Trailer light issue…. We have 2 trailers and 2 vehicles. Vehicle 1 is a 2022 GMC PU. Vehicle 2 is a 2016 Suburban. Vehicle 1 trailer lights work with both trailers and both adapters. Vehicle 2 with trailer #1 lights work fine. Vehicle 2 with trailer #2 no lights. Both trailers are 4 pins. Tried both adapters still doesn’t work for trailer #2 on vehicle #2. Any ideas on what could be wrong? Thanks.

It sounds to me like the vehicle itself is the problem considering both of the trailer's work with your 2022 GMC, so I'd start there.

A lot of times, these connectors and adapter can become damaged overtime, and If this just started to happen I'd bet that's what happened. So, I recommend checking out the trailer connection on your 2016 Suburban first and make sure everything is good and not damaged. Check your ground wire(s), check the wire itself for breaks or loose copper, and check the functionality of the connector itself.

It also wouldn't hurt to check the trailer side as well, so you'll want to do the same thing that you did for the vehicle side.
