My Brakes Are Activating When I Reverse Uphill What Can I Do?
Question:
Hello. I have a Karavan boat trailer with drum brakes to transport a 15 Boston Whaler. When reversing up a slight incline the trailer brakes lock up. What can I do to prevent this from happening? Thank you.

This likely means your hydraulic brake actuator does not have a reverse lockout. Reversing the trailer up an incline compresses the actuator and activates the brakes. Adding a lockout allows you to backup without actuating the brakes. We have the reverse lockout solenoid # DM11993 that can be added to your actuator. This will be wired to your reverse light circuit and will lock out the actuator when you are in reverse.
We also offer actuators like the # T63FR which can be locked out manually.
