Recommended Hitch for a 2001 Toyota 4Runner w/ a Larger than Stock Tire
Question:
I have a 2001 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4WD. The spare tire along with the rest of the tires is sized at 265/75/R16, whereas the stock tire size is 265/70/R16. Will this hitch fit comfortably around the spare tire? The reviews seem 50/50 about whether it’ll fit or not, but I would rather have the direct alignment of the DrawTite rather than the backwards-shifted Curt option.

The larger spare should fit with the Curt item # C13087 but no one tests these hitches out for larger than stock spare tires. We just don't have that information available to us. The reason I say the Curt should work is the exact reason you don't like it. It sticks out farther which gives more room for the spare. A 265/75/R16 tire is 1.04" larger than the stock 265/70/R16.
I have attached a picture below of the stock spare tire installed on the Curt Hitch item # C13087. It is a tight fit but there are some gaps where you could potentially squeeze in a larger tire. Another solution is to use the Draw-Tite item # 75091 you referenced and move the spare tire mount.
Both of these hitches are confirmed to fit the 2001 Toyota 4Runner. They are custom fit and bolt to your vehicle with included hardware.
Sorry I don't have a more solid answer but this information is just not out there.
