Can Gate Valves Be Unbolted And Removed For Replacement

Question:

I got a lasalle britol valve for black water to replace. Can I replace only the valve without cutting the pipe already in place. if so, how to do that. I took out the 4 bolts and i can move the valve but it is very tight and i am wondering if it the valve will come out simply pulling it hard.

The gate valve # 34466N11AB96GMA should come apart without cutting the pipe once the bolts are removed. I can se that the flange is completely loose so the gasket must have gotten too hot and melted to both sides of the pipe fittings. You should be able to just pull hard on the gate valve to break it free and remove it to get the new valve in place.
