How to Choose Correct Valterra Double RV Waste Valves Replacement

Question:

I have a 2002 R-Vision Trail-Lite travel trailer with a broken black water valve- stuck closed. The black water tank is about half full best I could tell by looking down the toilet w/ a flashlight. So, I would like to order a replacement, which I have narrowed down to TR38, TR38A, or TR38B. Is there anyway to tell which to order without taking the old one off? I have to pay someone to do it as I am handicapped so I dont want to do it twice if I can help it. Or should I order all 3 and return the two that I dont use? The measurements on the grey water side is 4 1/2 between the point where it intersects the main pipe and the center of connection measured on the long side. The distance on the main pipe id 5 1/2 measured from where the flexible sewer hose and the center of the connection.

You should be able to tell which Valterra Double RV Waste Valves you need by inspecting your current connection points. The one end with the lugs on it is the same on all 3 parts so you simply need to determine if you need hubs, spigots, or a combination of both.

A hub connection fits around the spigot so you just need to check the other side of your waste valves to see if the adapter has fittings that connect on the inside or outside of the pipe they are connected to. Then you just need to choose from the following options:

3" Hub/1-1/2" Spigot - # TR38
3" Spigot/1-1/2" Hub - # TR38A
3" Spigot/1-1/2" Spigot - # TR38B

I'm not quite sure where you measured on your apater but I went out to the warehouse and measured 7-1/2" from the far end of the larger valve to the lugs and then 7-1/4" from the far end of the smaller valve to the lugs. I have attached a photo showing where I measured so that you can compare it to what you have (which should be the same).
