Best Battery Charge Line Kit for Flat Towing

Question:

regarding systems for charging towed vehicle: I see the Demco DM56VR system has a fuse and diode but no ground connection. The Brake Buddy BB54FR has an in line barrel fuse 15 amp. I assume the black box has only the diode inside or is there one? What is in the black box? Why does the brake buddy have a ground line while the Demco and Road Master systems do not? What is the pro/con and why do the others skip the ground? thanks!

The best charge line kit for flat towing your vehicle is the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25. I have a hard time not recommending all things Roadmaster when it comes to the wiring for a flat tow system because of how much research they've done, as well as the quality of the products they offer for flat towing. They don't use a ground wire but that's because the battery is already grounded and completing the circuit.

As for the BrakeBuddy Towed Vehicle Battery Charge Line Kit # BB54FR and the Demco Charge Line Kit # DM66VR, we haven't had any bad reports about them, I just know that Roadmaster has a higher standard which is why I recommend them.

I reached out to BrakeBuddy about that larger box and while I believe you're right about it being a diode, I haven't been able to get an answer out them of as of yet. I'll post an update here if I end up getting an answer to my question.
