Troubleshooting Furrion RV AC Unit that Short Cycles

Question:

Hi, we just bought a new camper and had an additional FURRION air conditioner installed in our bedroom. Unfortunately, we have been having major issues with it. The system itself is a 14.5 Furrion chill with manual controls. We are having problems with it short cycling due to the thermostat being in the intake air. Would switching it to a thermostat wall control help fix this issue? If so, what products do you recommend to fix this?

There are a couple of reasons why the Furrion Chill may be short cycling. While it could be a faulty unit or thermostat, often times the issue can be air blowing at the thermostat; when the thermostat senses cold air, it will turn on and off quickly - short cycling. If you can re-direct the air to not blow right on or near the thermostat that may resolve the issue. I would recommend trying to move your current thermostat as the current wall thermostats don't work with your older Furrion unit..

Also try running just the fan as this can also resolve the issue. Another problem could be a frozen coil, which often occurs when it is particularly humid, and combined with the cold it causes freezing; this can also often be resolved by running just the fan.

Apart from these things, it could be a faulty unit or thermostat, though to verify this you would need a certified technician to come and look at the unit.
