Recommended Way to Carry Bikes and a Cargo Carrier Using a Trailer Hitch Receiver
Question:
Hi, Im looking at the photo of a toyota with both a bike rack and a cargo carrier in the back. How do I build such an apparatus that has both the bikes and the cargo carrier, seemingly with the bikes closer to the vehicle and the cargo carrier coming BEHIND the bikes? thanks!

Unfortunately, I was unable to see the exact image you are seeing. For carrying bikes and a cargo carrier the Yakima EXO is our best option. We have one with an Open Carrier # Y54ZR and one with a Cargo Box # Y34ZR. Both these place the bikes above the cargo and keep the weight as close as possible to the vehicle. This is best to reduce the risk of damage to the receiver as well as reduce the chances of dragging some part due to low ground clearance and the length of a cargo carrier and bike rack placed front to back. The EXO also swings to the side allowing you better access to any rear storage compartment and gear you carry there.
If you can provide me with the image you found I can help you determine if you are able to do something similar for your application.
