Why do you need to connect the wiring harness to the battery directly? If you’re tying into the taillights they are already powered by the battery, so why do you need to run an extra line?

The extra wire in the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C99KR that you run to the battery powers the converter box so that it won't overload the tail light circuit and blow the fuse or cause the tail lights to dim.

I checked with Curt and their trailer wiring harness part #C99KR is a confirmed fit for the 2023 Hyundai Kona ev as it is a fit for all models.

Yes, the Tekonsha trailer wiring kit part #118749 is a confirmed fit for your 2021 Kia Niro EV and would work great. This is the easiest to install and most reliable kit available. I attached an install video for this for you to check out as well.

Not all models of the 2019 Kia Niro have an auxiliary battery at the rear of them which is why a power wire wasn't ran to it when installing the part #118749. If you have a PHEV which has the second battery you could do this.
