Troubleshooting 2017 Airstream Interstate Panic Braking When Carrying Front Mounted Motorcycle
Question:
We have a 2017 Airstream Interstate and have mounted your front receiver on which we are carrying a small, 250lb., motorcycle. It has happened twice now that the van will initiate a panic stop even though I only lightly tapped the brake pedal. This has only happened with the motorcycle mounted on the van. I am using a “Black Widow” motorcycle rack, and I have a “Stowaway2” mounted on the rear. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

It sounds like your 2017 Airstream Interstate is on a Mercedes Sprinter chassis which has the front collision avoidance sensors. When carrying your motorcycle on the front of your Airstream you will want to deactivate the front collision prevention system. This is done by pressing the button on your dash. You can find the image for the button along with location in your owners manual for your Mercedes if you are unsure of its location.
