What Is The Weight Capacity Of The Kuat Bike Rack KU98VR When Installed On A Flat Towed Vehicle?

Question:

I am confused by one of the listings for the Kuat Piston Pro X bike rack. It says it has a 67 pound capacity per bike, but then says 42 pound capacity when on an RV. I will be using this on my flat towed Wrangler. Does that mean it will only carry 42 pound bikes? Both of the bikes I want to put on it are 65 pounds with the batteries removed. Hella confused : (

I can definitely see how the specs can be a bit confusing. That said, I can say with 100% certainty that this will still work perfectly for you. The 42 pound per bike capacity you are seeing for the Kuat Piston Pro X # KU98VR is ONLY when installed directly into the hitch on the actual RV. When installed on a vehicle being flat towed behind and RV, like your Jeep Wrangler, it will have the full 67 pound capacity per bike.

Just to solidify this statement, we did contact Kuat directly and they confirmed it.
