Will Extending a Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Shank Decrease Capacity?
Question:
I have an E2 weight distribution hitch rated for 600 pound tongue weight. I read where a hitch extension reduces that tongue weight by half? So even if I have a hitch extension rated for 500 pounds, my E2 hitch is still only rated for 300 pounds with the extension because its reduced by half.

You are correct that using a Hitch Extender # HE06 will reduce the capacity of the receiver tongue weight by half. This will not necessarily reduce the capacity of the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA94-00-0600 by half since the receiver weight capacity on your vehicle may be different than the capacity of the e2 system.
We do offer the Extended Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4600 which is 6" longer than the standard shank included with the Fastway e2. This will not reduce the receiver capacity and may give you the additional length you are needing.
