When you plan on flat-towing your 2014 Ford C-Max Hybrid, there are 5 things that are needed. You will need base plates, a tow bar, safety chains, wiring for the lights on your towed vehicle, and a supplemental brake system.

I recommend the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, part # BX2639. This is a custom fit system that provides attach points for your tow bar.

The tow bar I recommend is the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar, part # BX7380. This tow bar system comes with the motor home mount so no ball mount is necessary, and has a self-aligning design that makes it simple to connect. This system also comes with safety cables.

For a supplemental brake system, I recommend the Patriot Braking System, part # BLU37TR. This is a portable system that applies a preset amount of pressure to your towed vehicle when the RV brakes are applied.

The wiring I recommend for you is the Tow Ready diode system, part # TR118821. This connects your towed vehicle lighting system to your RV to activate the lights required when towing. You will also need 12 Volt Outlet Kit # RM-9332 for dedicated power to the braking system. And you will need stop light switch kit # RM-751459, that will tell you the brake pedal in the vehicle is moving so you know the system is working.

You will want to consult your owners manual or with your dealership to see if there are any procedures or limitations required when towing your vehicle.

I have attached a link to some helpful articles that explain flat towing.
