Troubleshooting Disc Brakes Heating Up Axle When Used
Question:
Hi , I purchased the Titan complete disc brake set and the Dexter actuator for 7500 lb about 2 yrs ago and cant get the pads to release . They only touch a small bit but heat up whole axle after several hours. Is this just having air in the system ? I have an air operated bleeder and seemed to get all the air out.. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Typically having air in your brake lines will cause poor braking. It sounds like you have poor braking since you mentioned the pads are only touching a small bit but as they are heating up the hub it sounds like the brakes are also dragging when they should not be. These issues could be caused by either a faulty Actuator # T43397007K or issue with a Caliper # KDBC225S. If you are only experiencing the issue on one of the hubs then the issue is likely to do with the caliper and could be a bent mounting bracket, damaged caliper, or an issue with the caliper piston. If all of your brakes are heating up the actuator is the likely culprit. You may need to have this inspect by a service station if you are not comfortable disassembling the different components to determine what the issue is with either part.
