Does 12 Volt Power Circuit Run on Same Wire as 4-Way Converter Power Wire
Question:
If I had a 4 pin wiring kit installed and it has a black wire to the battery with a fuse. Then install a 7 pin adapter kit, can that same wire be used to power the black wire to the 7 pin? Or does the 7 pin black 12 volt always on need it own separate wire to the battery and separate fuse? I was thinking that I could move the black wire from the 4 pin relay box to the black on the 7 pin and attach the relay black wire to that same wire and power both. You only use one at a time correct? Or do they each need a wire and fuse?

Helpful Expert Reply:
You have to wire a separate 12 volt power wire for the 7-way adapter as it would draw considerably more than what the power wire of your 4-way kit is capable of. The 4-way's power wire will be in use at all times so you couldn't swap between the two either. Now if your trailer does not need a power wire (no battery to charge) then you actually don't have to run this circuit as it's not required for the other circuits to function.
