Recommended Flat Towing Set Up for a 2003 Honda Element

Question:

I need to talk to someone about a Blue Ox flat tow system . I have a 2019 Tiffin Bus 37AP that Im having an air connection plumbed into it for an Air Force or comparable brake system . I need a tow bar , all safety cables and correct wiring . Id like to have a live 12 volt feed to the car to keep the battery charged . I also need a base plate set for a 2003 Honda Element . I failed to mention I want a # 10,000 . Lb. towbar , AventaLX ? Thanks

Since your 2019 Tiffin Bus 37AP already has the air brakes set up for flat towing you will need the SMI Second Vehicle Kit for Air Force One Supplemental Braking Systems item # SM99209 and the SMI Air Force One Coiled Air Jumper Kit for Spartan Chassis item # SM6296.

The Blue Ox Aventa is an older model tow bar that is obsolete and we no longer carry plus it is way overrated for a Honda Element. A better option would be the Blue Ox Alpha 2 Non-Binding Tow Bar item # BX7380. This tow bar has a more reasonable 6,500 lbs capacity, telescoping arms, and a swivel feature at the shank which allows it to be much easier to use. It also includes safety cables.

Some other parts you will need to flat tow your 2003 Honda Element are listed below. I have also attached installation and review videos for the parts listed.

Base Plate Kit - Blue Ox Base Plate Kit item # BX2232

Wiring Harness - Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit item # RM-15267

Charge Line Kit - Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles item # RM-156-25

High Low Adapter - The tow bar needs to be within 3" of level. If you measure the height of the inside top of the hitch receiver tube on your RV, and the height difference is more than 3 inches above/below the base plate tab height, you'll need a high/low adapter. I have linked a FAQ article that explains all this in more detail along with our selection of adapters.
