Installing Hopkins Agility Trailer Brake Controller # HM47294 in a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse

Question:

What parts do I need to install the Brake Controller on a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse? Will not be used a lot. Is there a Controller that will work as well?

The Hopkins Agility Trailer Brake Controller # HM47294 that you referenced is a good cost-effective proportional brake controller. There are comparable units from Tekonsha, the brand we most often recommend, that offer easier set-up and operation, such as the Prodigy P2 # 90885. However, for occasional use the Hopkins may suit your needs well enough.

If your Traverse has the factory tow package (with a 7-way trailer connector installed at the rear bumper) then you can use a quick connect harness to plug in the Agility to the under-dash brake control port. In this case you can use parts # HM47294 and # HM47875.

If your Traverse does not have a factory 7-way (but has a 4-way flat trailer connector) you will instead need a trailer brake install kit, part # ETBC7. The linked video shows the installation process.

If you do not already have a 4-pole flat trailer connector at the rear of the vehicle you will need to install one before you can install the ETBC7. For easy plug-in installation I suggest TowReady # 118450, which is shown in the linked video being installed in a 2010 Traverse.
