Hopkins Accessories and Parts - HM47875

  • Trailer Brake Controller
  • Wiring Adapter
  • Plugs into Brake Controller
  • Hopkins
  • Vehicle Specific

Designed for your vehicle with a factory tow package, this wiring harness plugs into the quick-connect harness located under your dashboard and into your Hopkins Agility, Impulse, Reliance or BrakeForce brake controller for easy installation.

Features:

  • Connects your Hopkins brake controller to your vehicle's factory tow package
    • 1 Plug is inserted into the back of your electric brake control
    • 1 Plug is inserted into the factory-installed port under your dashboard
  • Requires no cutting or splicing wires for installation - just plug and play
  • Works with Hopkins Plug-In Simple brake controllers (Agility, Impulse, Reliance and BrakeForce)
  • 90-Day limited warranty

Tech Tip: The OEM plug in your vehicle is located under the dashboard to the left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency-brake pedal.

This brake-control wiring adapter will simplify the installation of your Hopkins electric brake controller. Once the brake controller is installed, the harness then plugs into a port under the dash. Because your vehicle has a factory tow package, all the wires for the brake controller have already been run from the 7-way trailer connector at the back of the truck to the plug under the dash. If your vehicle does not have a factory 7-way, additional wiring will be necessary to complete installation.

Video Transcript for Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2008 Saturn Outlook

Today on this 2008 Saturn Outlook were going to install part number HM47297 from Hopkins. This is the Insight Flexi-Mount trailer brake controller. At this point well go ahead and remove the trim panel below the dashboard. One thing to know about our install is were going to use the existing tow package plug thats existing in the vehicle, part number HM47875. This is Hopkins plug-in simple brake control wiring adapter. Well go ahead and plug that in to our tow package port.

Now we can go ahead and start installing our brake controller. A brake controller will plug into the other end of this adapter cord. We need to find a good place to keep it in line with the direction of the vehicle. We can actually hide it behind the kick panel on the drivers side. What weve done is cut out a small section out of the insulation thats just about the same thickness as the brake control, that way we can slide it into place and it will hold it in there.

We know how it fits, lets go ahead and plug in our adapter cord and our two other cords for the brake controller. One will be for the monitor and one will be for the hand control. Well go ahead and plug all our cords together. At this point well go ahead and tape up all our cables to help keep them all together. At this point were going to route our cables over to the corner toward the center of the console, and then go ahead and put our panel back into place.

At this point we need to decide where were going to mount our display and our hand control, but on this install the customer is going to install it himself. But with everything hooked up we can still see how it works, and show you a couple of suggested locations. With that, that will finish it for our install of part number HM47297 from Hopkins on our 2008 Saturn Outlook. .

The product worked great. This company was the only one that had the product I was looking for. I shopped several nationwide stores and none of them had it. It arrived in the time I paid for. This company is great. They let me know my part arrived and wanted to know how I liked the part. That’s customer service at its finest. I will definitely use them again in the future.

I had to look at several places to find this item. You had it in stock and, even with shipping, it was less expensive than anywhere else I could find it. It arrived as scheduled.

  • Wiring Harness To Install Hopkins Trailer Brake Controller on a 2012 GMC Acadia
For a 2012 GMC Acadia that came with a factory 7-Way trailer connector, you will need harness # HM47875 to install the Hopkins Agility brake controller # HM47294. I have linked a video showing an installation on a different vehicle that uses the same harness. The factory connection point is located under the dashboard to the left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency-brake pedal.

  • Installing Hopkins Agility Trailer Brake Controller # HM47294 in a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse
The Hopkins Agility Trailer Brake Controller # HM47294 that you referenced is a good cost-effective proportional brake controller. There are comparable units from Tekonsha, the brand we most often recommend, that offer easier set-up and operation, such as the Prodigy P2 # 90885. However, for occasional use the Hopkins may suit your needs well enough. If your Traverse has the factory tow package (with a 7-way trailer connector installed at the rear bumper) then you can use a quick connect...
