Recommended Suspension For Adding a 2nd Axle To 12 Foot Coleman Tent Trailer

Question:

I want to make my old 12 ft. 70s style Coleman tent trailer a tandem axle so I can carry my 2 ATV. It currently has a single solid axle with leaf springs. Can I use an axle less system? If so, which one do you recommend? I am not too worried about current axle ground clearance.

You will need to use a tandem axle setup since installing a Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # A12RS440 will not allow the suspensions to work together. We have the Timbren Silent Ride Suspension which will allow you to use your current axle and add a 2nd axle. There are several kits available for different axle sizes which I have listed below for you to determine the best option for your Coleman trailer. All the kits are rated with a 4,000lb suspension so you will be able to eliminate your leaf springs for a superior rubber spring suspension.

Timbren Silent Ride Suspension for Tandem Axle Trailers w/ 2-1/2" Round Axles # TSR4000T03
Timbren Silent Ride Suspension for Tandem Axle Trailers w/ 2" Round Axles # TSR4000T06
Timbren Silent Ride Suspension for Tandem Axle Trailers w/ 2" Square Axles # TSR4000T05
Timbren Silent Ride Suspension for Tandem Axle Trailers w/ 1-3/4" Round Axles # TSR4000T02
