5th Wheel Base Rail Kit for Reese 16K 5th Wheel Hitch in 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 4X4 MegaCab Shortbed

I just bought a 2007 Dodge ram 3500 diesel 4x4 mega cab , short box - single axle. I keep seeing the different applications for mega cab, except mega cab with, or without overload springs ??? All I know is its a mega cab. Overload springs ? I read a forum that only duallys have overload springs .? So do I just need the #30035 ?

You have a choice of 5th wheel base rail install kits for your 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 diesel 4X4 MegaCab Shortbed, either a universal kit, a semi-custom install kit or a custom outboard kit. The advantage of the semi-custom and custom kits is reduced install time and drilling requirements as compared to the universal kit. My contact at Reese confirmed the fits of each of these items.
Each will work on your truck as long as it is neither a flare-side nor step-side bed and each is compatible with a range of 5th wheel hitches from Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley and Husky. None will work with the Reese Elite or Valley UBS hitches.
The universal kit you can use is # RP30035-023. If you prefer less drilling and reduced install time you can instead use kit # RP50140-58. The quickest install will be with kit # RP56011-53 that uses outboard brackets that attach to the outside of the frame rails.
I have included video links showing installation of the # RP30035 and # RP50140-58 in a Dodge truck. Written instructions for all kits also are included for your reference. I also included a helpful article that reviews hitch installation tips.
Please note that if you are using a sliding hitch you cannot use this in conjunction with a Sidewinder pin box.
