Recommended Flat Towing Components For A 2017 Ford C-Max

Question:

I have a 17 Ford C max and Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain Non-Binding Tow Bar 6,000 Lb tow bar. Can you tell me what equipment I would need to flat tow? Base plate, light kit etc. I would like to use the invisi brake if possible. Would I still need a light kit or is it inclusive in the brake system? Thank you

To connect your Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain Tow Bar # RM-522 to your 2017 Ford C-Max you'll need the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 524432-1 along with the crossbar # 910021-00 if you purchased your Falcon after they stopped including the crossbar.

You can use the Roadmaster Invisibrake # RM-8700, but I do want to warn you that the box has to be installed inside of your C-Max and with how small it is could potentially be quite a pain to install. You'll also need the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751459 to properly send your vehicle's brake signal since the brake light switch wire on your C-Max isn't accessible.

You will still need a tow bar wiring kit to properly display your running lights, brake, and turn signals on the C-Max to remain street legal. For this I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This kit will splice into your tail light wiring to display these signals using your tail lights instead of having bulky magnetic lights sitting on the roof and potentially scratching the paint.

The last thing you'll need is some safety cables. I recommend the Roadmaster 80" Hybrid Coiled-to-Straight Safety Cables # RM-674 because the straight portion will allow you to pass the cables through the channels on the Falcon and the coiled portion will help keep the cables from dragging on the ground.

I've attached some videos below for these parts to help walk you through the installation process and to help you see the products in use before purchasing to get a better idea of how they would work for you.
