How To Wire Firestone Air Command Compressor System With or Without Yellow Wire

Question:

Again very confusing, your response said to use the yellow wire so the compressor comes on when the ignition is on. You also sent the wiring diagram to use, the diagram says not to use the yellow wire, what’s up? I don’t want to run the red wire to the battery only if the yellow wire controls the compressor. If attaching the red and black wires only the compressor can come on at any time and possibly draining the battery if the truck sits for a while.

The Air Command Compressor System part # F2610 can be wired in one of two ways. The first way would be to just attach the red wire to the positive battery terminal and the black wire to the negative battery terminal. This would allow the system to be powered on whenever you wake it up with the app. The other way would be to also attach the red wire to the positive battery terminal and the black wire to the negative battery terminal but also hook up the yellow wire to a keyed ignition source. This would allow the system to be powered on whenever you start the vehicle.

That said, neither option will drain the battery as there are built-in protections for this to stop the compressor from running for extended periods of time. I cannot recommend wiring the system in any other fashion other than what is outlined above.
