What Would Cause Trailer Sway After Installing Timbren's on Ford F-250

Question:

I purchased these Timbren springs due to the factory bump stops making contact with axle when hitting bumps on my 2012 F250 4x4 towing 5th wheel. I had no trailer sway before the install but now I do. What could be the problem? Nothing has changed on the 5th wheel. Thank you.

The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System part # TFR250SDG which is a fit for a 2012 Ford F-250 should not cause any trailer sway issues. They can actually reduce this as they reduce body roll in the tow vehicle which would then carry over to the trailer as well. That said, the springs reduce sag/squat so if this then caused the trailer to sit nose high that could then in turn lead to sway but there are not many other things I can think of that would cause this. I recommend ensuring the trailer is level and not nose high, making adjustments to the hitch and or pin box accordingly. The biggest cause of trailer sway that we see however is weight distribution problems, mainly there not being enough on the nose of the trailer, it should be between 10-15%. I also might recommend using an anti-sway control device like the Tuson Asymmetric Sway Control part # 335TSC-1000 to remedy the issue.
