Troubleshooting A Putco LED Tailgate Light Bar That Won't Signal On The Right Side

Question:

The light bar was professionally installed by the dealer when 2020 Chevy 3500 was bought new. Recently the right side wont light up for the tail light, turn, break. Left side works as it should. The white back up light works all the way across.

The Putco Red Blade LED Tailgate Light Bar # P92010-60 only connects via a 4-pole connector so what's most likely happened is the poles inside the connector have corroded.

I recommend first checking the 4-pole for your Silverado with a probe tester # PTW2993 to ensure that you're actually getting a right turn signal at the 4-pole. If not then you'll need to trace that wire back to the source to find the issue.

If you're getting the signal then you can reconnect the light to your truck's 4-pole and then use the # PTW2993 to prick into the right turn signal wire on the light bar side to see if the signal is transferring through.

If either 4-pole connector is the issue then I recommend the getting the Hopkins 4-Pole Loop # HM48145 and cutting off the old connector(s) and splice in the new one(s) with some heat shrink butt connectors # DW05744-10. The connector with only one pole showing is for the vehicle.

I also recommend checking your ground, most likely it's not the issue because your left turn is working but it doesn't hurt to check.

If the connectors aren't the issue then the control module could be damaged and is unfortunately not something that can be fixed and would require replacement of the light.
