What is the Distance From the Center of the Pin Hole to the 2 Inch Section on Brophy Adapter # HTAD

Question:

My 1.25inch hitch apparently has an abnormally long distance before the pin hole. I need AT LEAST 3inch from the closed/butt end of the 2inch hitch receiver to the pin hole in the 1.25inch shaft. What is this distance? In other words, I need the following: - O o - - 3inch -

To confirm the measurement from the end of the 2 inch section to the center of the pin hole of the 1-1/4 inch section, I pulled the Brophy Adapter # HTAD that you referenced an found that it measures 2-3/4 inches. I have that figure noted in the picture, as well as all of the other measurements of the adapter.

Please be aware that by using an adapter, your tongue weight capacity will be cut in half. Typically, Class I, 1-1/4 inch hitches have a tongue weight rating of 200 lbs. When you use an adapter, the maximum weight capacity will be 100 lbs. Please check either your owners manual, dealership or there may be a stamping or a sticker on the hitch itself to verify your tongue weight capacity and abide by that figure.

Since the Brophy # HTAD was not long enough, I went to our warehouse and pulled the other 1-1/4 to 2 inch adapters out and measured from the end of the 2 inch section to the center of the pin hole and none of them measured at least 3 inches.

The Brophy # HTAD was actually the longest of the four options, that we currently have available.

I have attached a FAQ article covering trailer hitch receiver sizes.

If you find a hitch adapter that meets your requirements, as a note of caution, when you add an adapter that extends further away from your hitch you increase the amount of force that is applied to your hitch.
