Can Rhino-Rack Ski and Snowboard Carrier Be Locked to Roof Rack Crossbars
Question:
I see the rack locks the skis down. Is there anything that prevents someone from just unscrewing it from the roof rails?

Expert Reply:
The Rhino-Rack Ski and Snowboard Carrier # RR574 is a great carrier but it only has the locking feature for the skis/boards alone. So yes, someone could technically just remove the mounting hardware and make off with your equipment.
To remedy this I recommend checking out the Yakima FreshTrack 4 Ski and Snowboard Carrier # Y03092 instead. This comes with locks for the skis/boards but it also has security Allen bolts that prevent anyone from loosening up the adjustment knobs when those bolts are secured.
Attached is a review video for you to check out. You can see my buddy AJ go over the locking parts of this rack starting at the 10:34 section of the video.
