Cushioned Equalizer to Replace TREQ310

Greetings – I have been thinking about upgrading my suspension with the Lippert Road Armor LC696740, but they are only 3.5 inches tall. I want to make sure that I’m getting the proper sizes of everything. My current suspension specs: 2021 Palomino Puma XLE Lite 27QBC I believe my current equalizer is your item number TREQ310. The measurements seem the same the only difference seems to be that mine has the numbers 20-11-12-6 stamped on them. The original equalizer is about 4 inches tall and I have 2.25 inch shackles. Hanger spacing is 29.5 inches. Wheel center spacing is about 33 inches. I contacted Lippert, and they said “the suggested AP kit to use for the Road Armor equalizer is part number 862878. With the HD shackle plate 3.13.” Lippert’s own installation manual calls for 2.25 inch shackles for my setup, so this is confusing. My concern is that the shorter equalizer Road Armor will shorten the height of my trailer and cause the tires to rub the plastic underbelly material of the travel trailer. The height would be shortened even more if I went with longer shackles, right? I saw another QandA that said to use 2 inch shackles, but would that be short enough to not change the ride height? I also wanted to use MorRyde heavy duty shackles and wet bolts, but I can’t find them in 2-inch lengths.

I do have an upgrade option for your 6-1/16" long, 4" tall Equalizer # TREQ310 but since you don't want to lower the trailer at all it won't be with a Road Armor setup.

So instead I recommend the following:

MORryde Rubber Equalizers for Tandem Axle Trailers - 33" Wheelbase - 8K # MR87ZR

MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers - 2-1/4" Long Shackle Straps # MR46ZR

The MORryde # MR87ZR measures 6-1/2" long and 3-1/8" tall, so it is the closest overall to your equalizer. Since it is slightly longer and a bit shorter, you'll want to go with shorter shackle straps, the 2-1/4" straps of the # MR46ZR, to help make up the difference. This will give you approximately the same ride height (it may lower the trailer ever so slightly), but greatly improve the ride.
