Determining Fitment Of Reese Goose Box With Trailer Height & Cab Clearance Distance On 1621 Pin Box

Question:

Is the height of my trailer above bedsides going to change from a traditional 5th wheel hitch? I cant give up any bedside clearance. Also need to know how the length from rear bolts to center of pin compares to Lippert 1621. I currently use an Andersen over the BandW turnover ball. My set up gives me additional clearance from camper to truck cab

To determine if your height is going to change on your trailer there are a few measurements you will need to take. First the lowest mounting hole on the Reese Goose Box # RP85FR is 19.2" from the hole center to the bottom of the gooseneck coupler. Since there are multiple adjustment holes that hold it to the frame you will need to measure the height from these holes to your bed to ensure you will have the height you need.

For the length a Lippert 1621 Pin Box # LC1387883 it is 25-5/8" from the rear mounting holes to the center of the king pin. The Goose Box # RP85FR is going to be the same 25-5/8" from the rear mounting holes to the center of the gooseneck ball. Since you have a B&W Turnover on your 2016 Ford F-250 you will be able to use a 4" Offset Ball # BWGNXA4085 to not loose all the additional clearance you got from the Andersen Hitch.

You will need to add the Reese Safety Chain Kit # RP49151 to the Goose Box to remain legal as you will be using a ball connection.
